The 2025 Tom Brock Community Service Scholarship, 
presented by the Altra Foundation closed February 21, 2025.


The Altra Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to providing financial wellness opportunities for youth and adults in the communities we serve. The Altra Foundation’s definition of financial wellness is having the knowledge and skills to develop financial goals, budget, manage debt, save, invest, and maintain good credit.
 

Apply for the Tom Brock Community Service Scholarship

Altra Federal Credit Union and the Altra Foundation believe in the power of giving back.  We encourage our staff and members to build strong communities through volunteer efforts.  In alignment with this mission, the Tom Brock Community Service Scholarship recognizes and rewards young members who have demonstrated a dedicated history of community service.

In his remembrance, this scholarship was named in honor of Tom Brock, the first Altra Foundation Board Chair, who was instrumental in the formation of this scholarship.  Throughout his personal and professional life, Tom was dedicated to serving others in the community.  His legacy of service lives on through this scholarship, which supports the next generation of community-minded individuals. 

To be eligible, applicants must be active members of Altra Federal Credit Union and have a proven track record of volunteerism and community involvement. This scholarship aims to empower young leaders who are passionate about making a difference and who, like Tom Brock, are dedicated to serving others.

The Altra Foundation has been granting scholarships since 2004, and has awarded 261 scholarships, for a total of $180,000.

 

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • be a member of Altra Federal Credit Union.
  • be a graduating high school (or home-school) student in Spring 2025.
  • have a minimum GPA of 2.80 or higher.
  • be attending a 2-year or 4-year college in Fall 2025.

This application will require you to complete the following information:

  • Community Service History (including type of service, dates and total hours, and supervisor)
  • Short Essay about a specific community service experience and how it influenced you
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • High School Transcripts

 

Applications will be accepted for this scholarship January 2 - February 21, 2025.
